Dr. Miriam Casal, has been practicing dermatology and aesthetic medicine in New York for more than 30 years, and has served as a dermatopathologist at Dermpath, Inc., in Westchester for 10 years.
Originally from Argentina, Dr. Casal completed her medical degree with honors at the University of Buenos Aires, where she also completed her residency program in dermatology and subsequently became board certified in dermatology.
After relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, as well as a fellowship in dermatopathology at New York Hospital Cornell University. She is board certified in anatomical and clinical pathology and dermatopathology. She further developed her skills by successfully completing a fellowship in aesthetic medicine and became certified by the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine.
Dr. Casal is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine, and the Spanish American Medical Dental Society, as well as a Fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology.
Dr. Mickaela Marichal, DNP, is a certified dermatology nurse practitioner and has been a full-time member of the Pielviva team since April 2021.
Dr. Marichal obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from New York University in 2023. After gaining her master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University in 2016 and completing a one-year primary care residency in 2017 at the Community Health Center, Inc.
Dr. Marichal went on to fulfill a two-year Dermatology fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center (2018-2020) and stayed as a staff nurse practitioner for an additional year. In addition to giving yearly dermatology lectures, she has published several articles in the Journal of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association (JDNA) and is on the Dermatology Nurse Practitioner Certification Board.
Dr. Marichal is a native New Yorker and a fluent Spanish speaker, thanks to her Argentine and Uruguayan parentage. She also speaks Italian thanks to attending a fully Italian bilingual school from pre-K through High School. These are all assets that make her well-equipped to care for the New York Community, in addition to her compassionate and kind nature. She enjoys spending her free time reading, running marathons, and enjoying her family's company.
