FRECUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How does BBL™ work?
BBL is an advanced light based technology designed to treat skin conditions associated with aging, active lifestyle and sun damage.
BBL™ delivers light energy to the superficial layers of the skin. Within the skin the light is absorbed by different targets such as brown sun spots or red capillaries, producing heat that aims to eliminate the target giving back the skin its natural beauty with a smoother, firmer and radiant younger appearance.
  • What conditions BBL™ treats?
    1) Brown spots, freckles, and age spots associated with aging and sun damage
    2) Rosacea, redness and small facial vessels (capillaries)
    3) Fine lines and wrinkles
    4) In addition BBL™ is excellent for boosting the production of collagen therefore improving skin texture
    5) Laxity
  • What areas can be treated?
Any area of the body can be treated. The most popular areas are the face, neck, decote, hands and forearms.
  • How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments someone needs will vary depending on the condition and the severity of the problem to be treated. After a consultation with the Skin specialist at Pielviva a personalized plan will be designed. Typically 3-5 initial treatments are recommended to achieve the desired results.
  • What will happen during the procedure?
First your skin is cleansed and a transparent ultrasound gel is applied. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. When the treatment starts you may feel a “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed on the skin. The treatment may last a few minutes to half an hour or more depending on the size of the area to be treated.
  • Will it hurt?
The procedure is non-invasive. Most patients describe a warm or sometimes snapping sensation that is well tolerated.
  • What should I expect after the BBL™ treatment?
You may expect some redness that may go down in a few hours. The dark spots will be darker and slowly flake off after about 7-10 days. Your skin will feel smoother and the age spots will fade. The results depend on the skin condition, your type of skin and the number of treatments.
  • How long it will take to recover?
BBL™ treatment has little or no downtime. Most patients can continue their normal routine. This is a treatment that can even be done during your lunch break.

Depending on the severity of your condition sometimes you may experience some swelling.
Patients with severe sun damage and many brown spots will have temporary darkening of the brown spots and slow peeling over 10-14 days.
Makeup can be applied immediately after the procedure so you can return to your regular activities.
